Egbewole’s wife bows out of UNILORIN in grace

The wife of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Mrs Muibat A. Egbewole, last Friday (January 30, 2026), retired from the services of the University.

Mrs Egbewole, who rose to the position of Deputy Registrar, retired after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 65 years.

To mark the retirement, several dignitaries gathered at the Vice Chancellor’s official residence for a special prayer session led by renowned Muslim clerics.

Among those that attended the prayer session were the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN; the Director of the Joint Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) Foundation School, University of Ilorin, Prof. Ibrahim Kayode Adam; the Director, Centre for Research Development and In-House Training (CREDIT), University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdulkareem Oloyede; the wife of a former Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr Raheemat Oloyede; and the proprietor of the IQRA Group of Schools, Ilorin, Mr Aliu Alabi Badmus.

Meanwhile, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), University of Ilorin Branch, has paid glowing tributes to Mrs Egbewole, saying that the retired Deputy Registrar had an illustrious career.

In a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Mrs Damilola Afelumo, the Association said that Mrs Egbewole has been “a pillar of strength and inspiration to many” within and outside the University.

The statement added that “Mrs Egbewole’s dedication, poise, and warmth have made a lasting impact on the University community.”

While congratulating her on what it called “double celebration of her 65th birthday and retirement”, the Association wished Mrs Egbewole “a retirement filled with joy, love, and fulfillment.”

Prior to her retirement, Mrs Egbewole was the Deputy Registrar in-charge of UNILORIN JUPEB Foundation School.
