Egbewole lauds NIS transformation …..commends CG, Nandap

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has expressed his delight at the transformation taking place in the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) under the leadership of Comptroller-General Kemi Nanna Nandap, an alumna of the University.

Prof. Egbewole, made the remarks last Thursday (January 29, 2026) while receiving the new Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kwara State Command, Mr Hussaini Ibrahim, who visited him in his office. He described the NIS as a key institution in Nigeria’s security and administrative framework.

Commending the professionalism and sense of responsibility of the NIS in the execution of its duties, the Vice Chancellor expressed satisfaction with the remarkable achievements of the University of Ilorin alumni serving in the Service. He noted that their progress reflects the high-quality training and core values instilled in them by the University.

Prof. Egbewole also highlighted the longstanding cordial relationship between the University and various institutions, pointing out that the Nigeria Immigration Service, in particular, has demonstrated exceptional professionalism and responsibility.

He expressed optimism that the partnership between the University and the NIS would continue to grow stronger, fostering mutual collaboration, enhancing institutional capacity, and promoting excellence in service delivery across Nigeria.

Speaking earlier, the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kwara State Command, Mr Hussaini Ibrahim, said that his visit was aimed at expressing appreciation to the University of Ilorin and strengthening a more cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with the institution.

Mr Ibrahim noted that the relationship between the Nigeria Immigration Service and the University has remained cordial over the years, describing the University as a key partner in human capacity development. He explained that the visit was also intended to further deepen collaboration and promote a friendlier engagement between both institutions.

The Immigration Comptroller disclosed that a number of officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service are alumni of the University of Ilorin, while several others are currently enrolled in various academic programmes at the institution.

According to him, this longstanding academic connection has contributed significantly to the professional competence and discipline of officers serving in the Kwara State Command.

The Comptroller expressed optimism that the existing relationship would continue to grow stronger, adding that enhanced cooperation between the Nigeria Immigration Service and the University of Ilorin would further support institutional development, capacity building and effective service delivery.
