The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has emphasised the importance of the Registry staff in sustaining the University’s culture.
Prof. Egbewole, who stated this last Thursday (March 27, 2025) at the 2025 Registry’s First Quarter In-house Seminar, noted that as custodians of the university tradition, the Registry staff should be at the forefront of championing the values of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor reminded the staff that promotions will be based on performance and competence, encouraging them to strive for excellence. He also suggested that the Registrar should consider issuing certificates to staff members who attend the quarterly seminar in recognition of their commitments to continuous learning.
The Seminar featured lectures from two resource persons, the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Mr. John Aiyedun, who spoke on “Speech and Report Writing”, and a Principal Assistant Registrar, Mr. Oluwole Leye, who spoke on “Understanding Administrative Terminologies, Usage and Implication.”
In his presentation, Mr Aiyedun emphasised that knowledge acquisition is essential for personal growth and success. He stressed the importance of developing a reading habit.
On his part, Mr Leye’s presentation highlighted the need for administrative staff to be well-versed in relevant terminologies. He recommended a daily review of the conditions of service book for at least 15 minutes.
Earlier in his speech, the Registrar, Mr. Mansur Alfanla, FCIML, urged staff members to embrace a culture of continuous development, stressing that up-to-date knowledge and skills are essential for remaining relevant and effective.
In his remarks, the Director of the Centre for Research Development and In-House Training (CREDIT), Prof. Abdulkarim Oloyede, praised the impact of the quarterly lectures on the performance of the Registry staff.
