DOAJ okays IJEP for indexing
The Ilorin Journal of Economic Policy (IJEP), which is owned and published by the Department of Economics, University of Ilorin, has been accepted for inclusion in The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
DOAJ is highly respected for journal index among universities and researchers around the world because it acts as a trusted, curated, and free-to-access index that combats predatory publishing and guarantees high-quality, peer-reviewed, open-access content. It currently hosts over 20,000 journals from 130+ countries, significantly boosting the visibility, discoverability, and citation rates of research.
The Directory is considered a “beacon” for identifying reputable open-access journals, protecting researchers from predatory publishers. The inclusion of IJEP signifies that the journal has passed a rigorous independent, manual review process.
Being indexed in DOAJ means IJEP will be visible around the world, and there will be an increase in the website traffic by up to three times, leading to wider readership and higher citation rates.
Many research funders and institutions (e.g., Plan S in Europe, South African universities, among others ) require open-access journals to be indexed in DOAJ to meet compliance standards. Therefore, the inclusion of IJEP means the journal is complying with the standard procedure of scientific publishing.
Also, many institutions worldwide recognise publishing in DOAJ-indexed journals as a credible and accepted standard for academic promotion and evaluation.
Journals awarded the “DOAJ Seal” are recognised for adhering to outstanding best practices in open access, such as long-term digital preservation and clear licensing, making them preferred publishing venues.
The journal is presently managed by the following staff in the Department of Economics, University of Ilorin: Editor-in-chief: Prof. Gafar T Ijaiya; Managing Editor: Dr. Folorunsho M.
