CMLI to host training on community conflicts and security management

Following the challenges posed by insecurity and communal unrest to national development, the Centre for Management and Leadership Ilorin (CMLI), University of Ilorin, has concluded arrangements to organise a four-day capacity-building training,

Titled “Training on Community Conflicts and Security Management,” the programme is scheduled to hold between June 22 and 25, 2025 at the University of Ilorin.

The strategic training is one of the Centre’s flagship responses to the persistent and complex issues of community-based conflicts, insecurity, and leadership gaps within grassroots governance structures. It aligns with the University’s broader vision of producing research-informed solutions to societal challenges and promoting peace, equity, and sustainable development.

The Ag. Director of the Centre, Dr. Adeola Odebode, said that the training is designed to equip participants with a deep understanding of the underlying causes of conflict in communities, enhance their conflict analysis and resolution skills, and strengthen their capacity to design and implement effective security strategies at the community level.

According to her, the programme will attract community leaders, traditional rulers, security operatives, local government officials, civil society actors, religious leaders, educators, and students from across Kwara State and neighbouring regions. “Participants will benefit from a rich mix of theory and practice, delivered by a team of seasoned facilitators, security experts, peace builders, and scholars”, she added.
