The Ag. Director of the Centre for Management and Leadership Ilorin (CMLI), Dr Adeola A. Odebode, has disclosed that arrangements are underway to host major leadership development programmes scheduled for 2026.
Dr Odebode, who spoke with UNILORIN Bulletin last Monday (December 1, 2025), explained that the initiatives are aimed at strengthening leadership capacity, promoting workplace harmony, and enhancing the University’s national profile.
She revealed that the 2026 Leadership Summit, planned for May 2026 and themed “Transformational Leadership for National Development in a Changing World,” is expected to provide a high-level platform for meaningful conversations on leadership and national development.
According to her, the event is projected to attract between 500 and 700 participants, including policymakers, senior administrators, corporate executives, academics, development partners, and postgraduate students, alongside distinguished personalities who will serve as keynote contributors.
Dr Odebode noted that their participation would significantly enrich the conversation and elevate the University’s visibility at both national and international levels.
She added that the Summit is expected to contribute to national conversations, support institutional partnerships, attract potential grants and consultancies, and further strengthen the visibility of CMLI’s academic programmes.
Dr Odebode also confirmed that the Centre will host a One-Day Staff Development Workshop during the year, designed for all members of staff, both academic and non-teaching. She emphasised that the training aligns with the University’s longstanding commitment to excellence in teaching, research, administrative efficiency, and community service.
She stated that the workshop will feature presentations, interactive discussions, case reflections, and question-and-answer engagements.
The expected outcomes, she said, include improved leadership capacity, strengthened ethical competence, enhanced emotional intelligence, better communication, and a more harmonious and productive working environment.
Dr Odebode expressed confidence that the 2026 Leadership Summit and the One-Day Staff Development Workshop will further position the University of Ilorin as a leading institution in leadership development, capacity building, and national discourse.
