CCSCA students visit Esie Museum, Osun Osogbo grove

Students of the Centre for Cultural Studies and Creative Arts (CCSCA), University of Ilorin embarked on a Field Trip, 29 April 2025, as part of the requirement for the award of Diploma Certificate of the Centre.

               The excursion, according to the Centre’s Director, Prof. Raymond Oluwatoyin Ogunade, “is part of graduation requirements for our Diploma students at the Centre.”

The trip took the students to Esie Museum, the first museum in Nigeria and the Osun Osogbo Sacred Grove Park and Gardens, places described by the Director to have been set up based on “various perspectives such as historical, cultural, archeological, geographical, social, and several other perspectives.

The maiden trip that involved 15 students of Museum and Archival Studies, and those of the Creative Arts, according to the Director, was “quite an enlightening experience, they were excited, they were enriched, more so, it was their first exposure to such settings.”

While expressing gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, “for approving and funding the trip”, the Director further said that “with the encounters the students had, their interest will be sharpened and set ablaze with curiosity to further investigate and drive forward their cultural experiences as they navigate the rich cultural heritage of our country.”

The Director said that the Field Trip will be an annual event at the Centre, pointing out that “it will further broaden the students’ scope for cultural studies.”

On the trip with the Director were the Centre’s Secretary and Librarian, Mr O. J. Oyedepo and Mrs Shola Famuyiwa, respectively.
