Babamale bags another International award

A Senior Lecturer at the Department of Industrial Chemistry, University of Ilorin, Dr Halimah Funmilayo Babamale, has been conferred with the Innovative Women Scientist Award.

The award, which is dated March 8, 2025, was conferred on Dr Babamale by Genesin of Educational Impressions (GEI) based in Uttarakhand, India, in recognition of her contributions to making the world a better place for women.

The award, which is signed by Prof. Garima Sharma and Prof. Madiya M. Khairudeen, who are Director/Convener and Programme Advisor of GEI, respectively, described Dr Babamale as “a superwoman”.

The duo acknowledged Dr Babamale’s contributions in spreading the light of optimism for every woman, adding that women like her are making the world a better place and that Dr Babamale’s limitless attitude makes a big difference in the society.

The GEI also thanked the distinguished Unilorite for doing such marvelous efforts to herself and the society and not underrating herself.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has welcomed the award conferred on Dr Babamale, describing it as meritorious and well deserved.

In a statement issued by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor thanked Dr Babamale for making the University proud.

The Vice Chancellor encouraged other staff of the University, particularly women, to continue to give their best to the institution and their various professional bodies and humanity at large.

Prof. Egbewole, who is also the Secretary-General of the Association of West African Universities(AWAU), assured the staff that the University would continue to give them required support to be the best they could.
