Another Unilorite, O’ Daniels, set for Guinness World Record history

Few weeks after the induction of a final year student of the Department of Mathematics, University of Ilorin, Mr Sanusi Akanbi Kazeem, into the Guinness World Book of Records, a 2015 graduate of the institution, Mr Olusegun Oloyede, who is professionally known as O’Daniels, is set to break another global record; the longest marathon hosting of a radio talk show.

The ex-Unilorite, who is a Lagos-based broadcaster reputable for hosting a 6-hour show on weekends and a 4-hour show during the week on the popular Hi-Impact 102.1FM radio, will run the much-anticipated show from Thursday, June 26 to Monday, June 30, 2025.                  Speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin on telephone on his upcoming engagement, Mr Oloyede, who graduated from the institution’s Department of Geography and Environmental Management, confirmed his preparation for the global reckoning. 

The ex-Unilorite recalled that he started his broadcasting career as the presenter of “Weather Report” on UNILORIN 89.3 FM while he was still a student of the University.     

Mr Oloyede expressed his profound gratitude to the University of Ilorin for contributing greatly and positively to what he has become as he said that his broadcasting career was built on what he started with at the University.

The popular radio presenter explained that he is looking forward to making the University very proud as he promised to continue to contribute to the growing reputation of the nation’s most sought-after University.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has expressed the delight of the management, staff and students of the institution over the rising profile of Mr Oloyede.

Prof. Egbewole, who spoke through the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, said that the University is honoured and proud that one of its alumni is about to secure a place in global records few weeks after an outstanding record breaking by Mr Sanusi Akanbi Kazeem.

The Vice Chancellor urged Mr Oloyede to approach the professional target he set for himself with absolute dedication and professionalism, adding that he was sure that the ace broadcaster would clinch the glorious record for himself and the University, particularly as it is preparing for its 50th anniversary celebration.

While assuring Mr Oloyede of the prayers and support of the entire University community, Prof. Egbewole wished the renowned O’Daniels a very successful outing.
