The Registrar of the University of Ilorin, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, has called on staff members particularly those in the Executive Cadre, to remain disciplined in the discharge of their responsibilities and to ensure that their contributions to the institution are greatly felt.
Mr Alfanla made the call penultimate Wednesday (November 12,2025) while speaking at the 2025 maiden meeting of the Executive Cadre Forum held at the University Auditorium Basement.
He said Executive Officers are a component part of the University who play a significant role in the running of the day‑to‑day activities of the institution, pointing out that the difference between them and other staff in terms of service delivery is minimal.
Mr Alfanla, therefore, urged them to remain relevant by contributing their own quotas to the growth and development of the University.
The Registrar, however, warned against truancy as he urged them to embrace teamwork.
In his presentation, titled ‘‘The Purpose of Creating Executive Officers in the University system “, the Deputy Registrar, Academic Support Services, Mr M. A. Opaleke, advised them to be upright in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He laid emphasis on capacity and career building as it is very essential in the University system because the University appreciates self-development.
Mr Opaleke told the Executive Officers, “Avoid work in isolation, prioritise team work to excel, refrain from any fraudulent act that can lead to loss of jobs.”
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chief Executive Officer at the Human Resources Unit of the UNILORIN Registry, Mr R. S. Abegunde, encouraged Executive Officers to stand firmly and display their potentials by putting in their best.
He also acknowledged the support of the University management for the approval given to the Executive Cadre to rise up to CONTISS 14 as their terminal level, as he congratulated them for living to witness the achievement.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Mr Paul Olufemi Awolola, the Chairman of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institution (NASU), Comrade Haruna Ibrahim Zubair and the Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU), Mr Naheem Folowo, among others.
