The Director of the Quality Assurance Unit, University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulRazzaq AbdulMajeed Alaro, mni, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Islamic Finance Scholars Forum(IFSF).
The appointment of Prof. Alaro, who is also a former Head of the Department of Islamic Law, was one of the key decisions recently taken by the Forum.
Other members of the Board are the Vice Chancellor of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Prof. Saadatu H. Liman; the Secretary-General of the Istanbul-based Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Arbitration Centre, Dr Umar Oseni; and the founder/Chairperson of Lotus Bank, Mrs Hajara Adeola.
While Prof. Luqman Zakariya of the University of Abuja became the President, Dr Abdullahi Lamido of Bayero University, Kano emerged as the Vice President.
Speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin on the development, Prof. Alaro said that he regarded his emergence as the Chairman of the BoT of the Forum as a great and uncommon privilege.
The cleric-don said that he would use the position to work with others towards promoting the understanding and practise of Islamic finance in Nigeria and beyond.
Prof. Alaro, who thanked the authorities of the University of Ilorin for the privilege he is given to relate and interact with his professional colleagues across the world, promised to keep the flag of the University flying.
