The Al-Burhan Multipurpose Cooperative Society, University of Ilorin, held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) last Tuesday (November 18, 2025) at the Society’s Secretariat.
The event provided a platform for members to deliberate on the Cooperative’s developmental strides, accountability measures, and investment prospects.
In her address, the Acting President of the Society, Prof. Modinah Abdul-Raheem, expressed gratitude to God and congratulated members for witnessing what she described as a long-awaited AGM.
She highlighted significant progress made by the Cooperative Society, noting that many of its investments are now yielding positive returns.
Prof. Abdul-Raheem urged members to take cooperative affairs seriously and reaffirmed her commitment to transparent and accountable leadership.
Also speaking, the External Auditor, Mr Jimoh Adegboyega Alimi, encouraged members to safeguard and monitor their investments to prevent financial losses.
He commended the Cooperative Society for being a “thriving society” and advised members to remain prudent in financial decision making.
Delivering a brief sermon at the event, the 2025 UNILORIN Researcher of the Year, Dr AbdulGafar O. Fahm, urged members to demonstrate transparency in their dealings, avoid ribah (interest), and protect their wealth through halal means.
A major highlight of the AGM was the inauguration of the newly elected executive council to steer the affairs of the cooperative.
The new leadership includes:Prof. Modinah Abdul-Raheem, Chairperson; Dr Muritala A. Tukur, Vice Chairman; Prof. Habeeb Ajimotokan, General Secretary; Mr Isaq Abiodun Abdul-Salam, Assistant General Secretary; Mrs Zabir Ramat Abdul-Salam, Treasurer; and Mr Mustapha Adebayo, Internal Auditor.
Orhers were Dr Lukman Abioye Oyewole, Public Relations Officer; Prof. Jamiu Kolawole Odusote, Ex Officio I;and Prof. Lukman Aribidesi Olayaki – Ex-Officio II.
In his remarks, Prof. Lukman Ayinla of the Faculty of Law, charged the new executives to serve selflessly and uphold integrity, reminding them that leaders will ultimately give account of their actions.
The AGM ended with renewed commitment to collective progress and financial transparency among members of the Society.
