Akogun pledges UNILORIN Bulletin, FM radio’s support for JCI

The Director of Corporate Affairs,  University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun, has pledged to support the UNILORIN Branch of the Junior Chambers International (JCI) by  availing it the services of the media organs of the University under the control of the Directorate.

Mr Akogun made this pledge last Monday (March 30, 2024) while receiving a delegation of the JCI led by the President of the UNILORIN branch of the organisation, Mr Olamilekan Popoola at the Conference Room of the Directorate.

The ace journalist disclosed that the President has represented the JCI well with his proposals and he has further proven that the organisation remains an international platform that equips young people with the right skills to play leadership roles.

He added that the Directorate would  support the upcoming Harmony Academy of JCI with pre-event, main event and post event coverage because every positive minded youth initiative deserves to be encouraged.

Adding his voice, the General Manager of UNILORIN 89.3 FM, Mr Idris Akintola Ibrahim (Alooma) recalled that JCI seemed like child’s play when it was registered in Nigeria by Mr Bolu Akinwunmi in 1957 but now, its over 180,000 members are shining models for fellow youths.

He urged members of the organisation to continue to serve as role-model to their colleagues.

In his own contribution, the Deputy Editor of UNILORIN Bulletin, Mr Abubakar Imam, urged the guests to aim for the stars and extend the message of the Directorate to the 400 strong membership of the JCI at the University.

Earlier, the President of JCI at the University of Ilorin, Mr Olamilekan Popoola, a 500 level student of the Faculty of Agriculture, informed his hosts that JCI is operational in 110 countries around the world and it works towards imparting positive change in youths.

He also sought the support of the Directorate during its upcoming hybrid summit tagged Harmony Academy, which includes career mentorship and entrepreneurship programme.

The JCI President was accompanied by Miss Adepeju Oriyomi, who is the Welfare Director of the UNILORIN Chapter of JCI and another member, Mr Quayyum Gbadamosi.
