Akanbi re-elected ANA President

An Associate Professor at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, University of Ilorin, Dr Usman Ladipo Akanbi, has been re-elected as President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA).

The re-election of Dr Akanbi took place penultimate Saturday (November 1, 2025) in Abuja.

Dr Akanbi, who is also a former President of the University of Ilorin Students Union, was first elected into the prestigious ANA position in November, 2023. The position was first occupied by the renowned African novelist, Prof. Chinua  Achebe.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has welcomed Dr Akanbi’s re-election, describing it as the genuine affirmation of his fascinating leadership qualities.

In a statement by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor said that he was happy that Dr Akanbi was reelected to hold such a lofty position among literary giants in Nigeria.

Prof. Egbewole urged Dr Akanbi to continue to make his family and alma mater proud by leading the body of the Nigerian authors to greatness.

The Vice Chancellor wished Dr Akanbi a more remarkable and rewarding tenure.
