Ajao appointed into EkoUNIMED Governing Council

The immediate past Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Ilorin Branch, Prof. Salihu Moyosore Ajao, has been appointed as a member of the new Governing Council of the Eko University of Medicine and Health Sciences (EkoUNIMED), Lagos.
The appointment of Prof. Ajao was announced last Monday (January 5, 2026) in a statement by the University.
Prof. Ajao, who is also the immediate past Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Ilorin, is currently serving as the Provost, College of Health Sciences, Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, where he is on sabbatical leave.
The renowned Professor of Anatomy is expected to bring to bear on his new position extensive knowledge and administrative experience garnered over the years in the training of medical practitioners and general administration.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has welcomed the appointment of Prof. Ajao, saying that it is well deserving and befitting.
In a statement signed by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor described Prof. Ajao as a hardworking medical professional and teacher who has proven to be a shining ambassador of the better by far University in all the positions he has held.
The Vice Chancellor urged Prof. Ajao to approach the new position with his characteristic agility, dignity and integrity for the management, staff and students of the University of Ilorin and the nation at large to remain very proud of him.
Prof. Egbewole wished the former Dean a very peaceful, successful and rewarding tenure.
Similarly, the Provost, College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin, Prof. Biodun Sulyman Alabi, has equally rejoiced with Prof. Ajao.
Prof. Alabi, in a statement he personally signed, said that the appointment is well deserved as it is a recognition of the former ASUU leader’s fantastic track records.
The Provost described Prof. Ajao as a brother, friend and colleague who is always thorough and exemplary in all he does.
Prof. Alabi, who is also the Chairman of the Committee of Provosts of Colleges of Medicine in Nigeria, prayed to Allah to see Prof. Ajao through and grant him and other Council members a successful tenure.
