Agric takes possession of new Home Economics building

The newly completed building for the Department of Home Economics has been handed over to the Faculty of Agriculture.

The facility was handed over to the University last Monday (January 20, 2025) by the contractor, Messr Olatundun & Co. at the project site along Bank Road.

In his remarks at the hand-over ceremony, the Director of the Physical Planning Unit, University of Ilorin, Mr Toyin Jimoh, urged the officials in charge of the facility to maintain and protect it in the interest of the University.

The Director explained further that the building was a request from the Faculty of Agriculture to the immediate past Administration and brought to reality by the current Administration.

He urged the Department to occupy the building as soon as possible to enable the University to ascertain the comfortability of its structural formula .

Also speaking at the ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Oluyemisi Fawole, appreciated the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for ensuring the completion of the building project. She also commended the contractor for a good job.

In her remarks, the Head of the Department of Home Economics, Prof. Nasirat Yusuf, described the project as one of the most significant facilities on the University campus.

She promised to make sure that the Department moves to the building as soon as possible.

Earlier, while handing over the project, the Contractor expressed his profound gratitude to the University for the opportunity given to his firm to execute the job.

The new Departmental building has fully air-conditioned offices and laboratories, CCTV Cameras, stores, fire extinguishers and fire alarm panel and changing rooms, fans and toilets, among others.
