Aghalino appointed DOU Vice Chancellor

The Governor of Delta State, Mr Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the appointment of a former Head of the Department of History and International Studies, University of Ilorin, Prof. Samuel O. Aghalino, as Vice Chancellor of Dennis Osadebay University (DOU), Asaba.

The appointment of Prof Aghalino was announced recently by the State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, who also presented the appointment letter to the renowned academic in his office in Asaba.

With the appointment, Prof. Aghalino, who is also a former Director of the Archives and Documentation Centre, University of Ilorin, becomes the 2nd Vice Chancellor of the young University, which is renamed after a distinguished nationalist and premier of the defunct Mid-Western Region, Chief Dennis Osadabey.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has welcomed the appointment.

In a statement issued by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, Prof. Egbewole said that the Better by far University is honoured with the appointment of the renowned historian and administrator as the Chief Executive of the young University.

The Vice Chancellor said that the Better by far University of Ilorin has become the oven of Vice Chancellors as he noted that Prof. Aghalino has joined the league of staff members of the University who have been found worthy to lead otherĀ  universities within and outside the country.

While congratulating Prof. Aghalino on his appointment, Prof. Egbewole urged him to approach the new task with his characteristic integrity and dignity for him to successfully pilot the affairs of the young University beyond the next level.

Prof. Egbewole wished the new Vice Chancellor a very peaceful and rewarding tenure.
