The University of Ilorin has recorded yet another landmark achievement as Prof. Nafisat Afolake Adedokun-Shittu of the Department of Educational Technology, has been appointed a Community Ambassador by Innov8 Hub, Abuja.
Her appointment was announced in a statement dated September 2, 2025, issued by Innov8 Hub, a TETFund partner in intellectual property development innovation, and professional excellence, where the programme is being hosted.
The appointment, which is for a three-month pilot programme effective from September 2025, further consolidates the University’s reputation as a breeding ground for innovators and change-makers across the Nigerian academic landscape.
Prof. Adedokun-Shittu’s selection followed her remarkable representation of the University at the Research for Impact (R4i) Cohort 14 in 2023 and the TETFund Alliance for Innovative Research (TETFAIR) in 2024, where she distinguished herself as a leading voice in educational technology and capacity building.
With an evaluation score of 265 out of 400, the erudite scholar emerged among the pioneering ambassadors chosen from across Nigeria for the prestigious programme, reflecting her sustained excellence and commitment to innovative academic practices.
As a Community Ambassador, Prof. Adedokun-Shittu will serve as a key liaison between Innov8 Hub’s leadership and the wider academic community, representing both her institution and the R4i initiative with integrity and vision.
According to Innov8 Hub’s Community Growth Officer, Thelma Agada, the pilot programme is designed to deepen academic and research capacity, nurture leadership, and strengthen collaboration across Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem.
In her acceptance note, Prof. Adedokun-Shittu expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity, describing it as “a great pleasure to connect with the community through Innov8.” She pledged her readiness to leverage the platform to drive sustainable impact, strengthen academic collaboration, and mentor emerging researchers.
Prof. Adedokun-Shittu, who equally serves as the Principal Researcher of Project GLOCALISE, has built a robust academic and research profile over the years, mentoring students and colleagues while contributing significantly to the growth of educational technology in Nigeria.
Her appointment as a Community Ambassador not only attests to her personal achievements but also reflects the enviable status of the University of Ilorin as a hub of academic excellence, innovation, and research impact.
