Adam emerges IESA new Chairman

The Director of the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board  Foundation School (JUPEB), University of Ilorin, Prof. Ibrahim Kayode Adam, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Ilorin Emirate Staff Association (IESA), University of Ilorin.

Prof. Adam, who succeeds a former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Suleiman Funsho Ambali, was elected alongside other new officials to steer the affairs of the Association for the next three years.

The inauguration of the new IESA leadership was held penultimate Sunday (October 12, 2025) at the National Secretariat of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Geri-Alimi, Ilorin.

Other officers elected include a Deputy Director at the Academic Planning Unit and Member of the University Governing Council, Mr Abdulrasheed Gidado, Vice Chairman I; the Head, Department of Physics, Dr  Taofeeq Olanrewaju Lawal, Vice Chairman II; Mr Iyanda Abubakar Elewure of the Registry, Secretary; and Mallam Galadima Mohammed Jamiu a staff      member of the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Assistant Secretary.

Also elected were Mrs Abdulrahman Hafsat,  Social Welfare Officer I; Mrs Aremu Adama Bolajoko, Social Welfare Officer II; Mr Ibrahim Olarewaju Yahaya , Legal Adviser II; Mrs Sherifat Jimoh-Jibril, Auditor; Mr Mustapha Kabiru Kayode, Financial Secretary; and a Principal Information Officer, Mr Tajudeen Abdulwahab Babamale, Public Relations Officer.

The immediate past Chairman and Secretary of  the Association, Prof. Suleiman Funsho Ambali and Mr Abubakar Imam, respectively, emerged as ex-officio members.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Adam advocated unity, cooperation, and collective responsibility among members to advance the progress of the Association and the University as a whole.

Prof. Adam urged members to remain steadfast in their commitment to the growth and development of the University of Ilorin, describing the institution’s success as a reflection of the dedication of its staff.

The new Chairman also encouraged members to uphold integrity and diligence in the discharge of their duties, urging them to work for the University as though it were their own enterprise.

Prof. Adam expressed deep appreciation to members of the Association for entrusting him and his team with the leadership mandate, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in them through selfless service, teamwork, and transparency.

In his valedictory address, the immediate past Chairman of the Association, Prof. Ambali, expressed gratitude to members for their unwavering support and cooperation throughout his tenure.

He acknowledged the collective efforts that contributed to the achievements recorded by his administration and urged members to extend the same level of commitment and solidarity to the new Executive Council.

Prof. Ambali also enjoined the new leadership to build on the gains of the previous administrations while promoting inclusiveness, harmony, and unity among members.

He wished the new team a successful tenure marked by progress, cohesion, and greater accomplishments for both the Association and the University community.
