Abdussalam appointed Kwara CAILS Provost

A Professor at the Department of Arabic and Transnational Studies, University of Ilorin, AbdulGaniy Abimbola Abdussalam, has been appointed as Provost/Chief Executive of the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies(Kwara CAILS), Ilorin.
. Prof. Abdussalam, who is also a distinguished alumnus of the University of Ilorin, was also a staff member of the College prior to joining the services of the Better by far University.
With his appointment, Prof. Abdussalam becomes the sixth substantive Head of the 34 years old institution whose pioneer Provost was a former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ilorin, Prof. Musa Ali Ajetunmobi.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has rejoiced with the seasoned Arabist on his appointment.
In a statement issued by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor described the appointment as a well-deserved honour not only to the appointee but also to the University of Ilorin as an institution.
The Vice Chancellor, who is also the Secretary-General of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU), said that the appointment would enhance the existing cordial relationship between the College and the University, saying that all the past Provosts of the College are either distinguished alumni or staff members of the University.
Prof. Egbewole said that he was particularly honoured because it has again confirmed the status of the University as a bastion of academic and administrative leaderships considering the increasing number of its staff members picked to head sister institutions of higher learning within and outside Kwara State.
The Vice Chancellor wished Prof. Abdussalam a peaceful and rewarding tenure.
