Abdur-Rahman hails UNILORIN VC for attending daughter’s wedding

The immediate past Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, University of Ilorin, Prof. Lukman Abdur-Rahman, has commended the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for personally attending the wedding ceremony of his daughter, Musharafat Abdur-Rahman, to her betrothed, Ibraheem Oloyede, describing the gesture as a blessing and a reflection of the University’s warmth, unity, and enduring culture of support.
The Vice Chancellor was among a mammoth crowd that witnessed the wedding of Ibraheem and Musharafat at the M&M Event Centre, Offa Road, Ilorin, penultimate Saturday (December 20, 2025).
Delivering a lecture titled “A Blissful Marriage,” the Chief Imam of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) Mosque, Dr Luqman Olatunbosun, emphasised faith, mutual respect, effective communication, and patience as the pillars of marital success.
He advised the couple to build their home on honesty and open dialogue, cautioning against reliance on fleeting social media opinions. He urged families to continue supporting the newlyweds.
Conducting the Aqdun-Nikkah, Alfa AbdulAfeez Abdulkareem Olawale, described marriage as a sacred trust before Allah and advised the couple to uphold love, sincerity, commitment, financial discipline, and mutual planning.
At the reception, the Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Prof. Lateef Folaranmi Oladimeji, encouraged the couple to embrace friendship, partnership, and patience in their marriage.
He commended the educational and moral grounding of both families and expressed confidence that such legacies would shape a harmonious and successful union.
Also speaking, the President of the Igbomina-Ekiti Muslims Forum (IEMF), Alhaji Nasir Ibrahim, congratulated the couple and praised the families for prioritising Islamic guidance throughout the ceremony, noting that faith-based values and structured support strengthen both personal and communal life.
Others at the ceremony included academics, health professionals, religious leaders, government officials, lawyers, staff, students, family members, and well-wishers from within and outside the University community, commended both families for nurturing strong values of faith, scholarship, and communal responsibility.
In his remarks, Prof. Abdur-Rahman expressed deep appreciation to all guests, particularly the Vice Chancellor, describing his presence as a source of honour and joy to the family.
