
UNILORIN ready to collaborate with Tunisian govt, varsities – Egbewole

A 2017 graduate of the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Ilorin, Mr Abdulmaliq Abdulsalam, has received the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award from the College of Engineering, University of Houston, United States of America, for the 2024-2025 Session
The awardee graduated from the nation’s most sought-after University with a Second Class degree (Upper Division) and he is currently rounding off his doctorate degree at the famous American University.
A letter of award dated April 23, 2025 and addressed to Mr Abdulsalam by the Dean of the College, Dr Pradeep Sharma, a copy of which was sighted by UNILORIN Bulletin, described the award as one of the highest given in the College.
Mr Abdulsalam, who teaches Chemical Processes: Energy and Material Balances at the College, in addition to his pursuit of Ph.D., was recognised in appreciation of his quality service delivery to students of the College as a teacher.
Speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin on the development, Dr George Adeniyi, who supervised the awardee during his undergraduate days at the University of Ilorin, described Mr Abdulsalam as an intelligent and hardworking young man with a promising future.
Dr Adeniyi, a one-time University of Ilorin Researcher of the Year, said that Mr Abdulsalam is his mentee and one of the several outstanding products of the Department of Chemical Engineering who are doing very well within and outside Nigeria.
While urging the current students of the University to emulate Mr Abdulsalam’s commitment to the pursuit of learning, Dr Adeniyi congratulated the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN; the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Prof. J. K. Odusote; and the Ag. Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Dr E. O. Ajala, on the feat achieved by Mr Abdulsalam.
