AbdulRaheem, UNILORIN ex-VC, inducted into Ilorin Hall of Fame

A former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem, OFR, was among the 25 distinguished indigenes of Ilorin Emirate inducted into the prestigious Ilorin Emirate Hall of Fame established by the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU).
The event, which was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life, was held last Wednesday (December 24, 2025) at the Union’s National Secretariat, Geri Alimi, Ilorin.
Prof. AbdulRaheem, who headed the University from 1997 to 2002, was honoured in recognition of his numerous contributions to the growth of the community and humanity in general, particularly for his services to the University of Ilorin.
Others who were honoured along with the former Vice Chancellor are a former Pro-Chancellor and Ag. Chairman of the University of Ilorin Governing Council and Minister of State for Education, Alhaji Saka Sa’adu, OFR, and a friend of the University and Kuliya of Ilorin, Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN.
Speaking at the event, Prof. AbdulRaheem thanked the Union for its role in community development and for finding him worthy of the honour.
Prof. AbdulRaheem, who is also simultaneously serving as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of three universities, promised to continue to do his best towards ensuring the peace and progress of the Ilorin Emirate community
Among those who attended the event were the Chief of Staff to the late President Muhammadu Buhari; Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari,CFR; a former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Suleiman Olatunji Adeyemi; a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali; the Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University of Education, Prof. Medinat Folorunso Salman; the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Prof. Ibrahim Abdulganiyu Jawondo and the Director, Computer Service and Information Technology Directorate (COMSIT), Prof. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh.
