The University of Ilorin through its Central Research Laboratories (CRL) has taken another significant step towards strengthening its research and analytical capabilities with the installation of two advanced analytical instruments, the X-ray Diffractometer (XRD) and Gas Chromatograph (GC) between last Tuesday(October 13, 2026) and Thursday (October 15, 2026).

As part of the exercise, hands on training sessions were conducted for laboratory personnel and interested staff members on the operation and basic maintenance of the equipment.

Training on the XRD was held on Wednesday ( October 14, 2026) while the GC training took place on Thursday (October 15, 2026).

The XRD will support material characterisation and crystal structure analysis, while the GC will enhance the laboratory’s capacity for the separation, identification and quantification of chemical compounds.

This development underscores the commitment of the University to advancing scientific research, promoting innovation and providing quality analytical services to researchers within and beyond the University community.

In his remarks, the Director of the Central Research Laboratories, Prof. Ibraheem Adeola Katibi, explained that the administration of Prof. AbdulWahab Egbewole, SAN, was poised to take the University to number one position, not only in quality but also in quantum and degree of societal impact of research nationwide.
