UNILORIN CPSS, Agric Extension set to host maiden international confab

All is set for the international conference being jointly organised by the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies and the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, University of Ilorin.

The Conference is scheduled to hold from November 9th to 12th, 2026.

The trio of Professor Sijuwade A. Adebayo, Head of the Department of Agricultural Extension and Co-Chairman of the Conference, Dr Oluwafemi Olabanji, Secretary of the Committee and Dr Ruth Abiola Adimula of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, who is the Publicity Secretary, unveiled this last Tuesday (September 29, 2026) while featuring on a special programme on UNILORIN FM jointly anchored by the Station Manager, Mr Idris Alooma and Mr Soliu Yinka Mogajinda.

According to them, the conference has as its theme: “Enhancing Local Agency for Human Security and Sustainable Development in Fragile Contexts.”

While disclosing that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, will be the Chief Host of the programme, the trio also disclosed that high-profile guests are being expected from the Presidency, the Government of Kwara State, the University community, security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders and members of rural communities.

The Conference, according to them, is targeted at bringing together, for the first time on a single platform, the twin disciplines of Peace and Strategic Studies and Agricultural Extension and Rural Development to address the challenges of weak institutions, insecurity, poverty and climate change, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa and the Sahel.

The hybrid conference, which will be both physical and virtual, will have its opening ceremony on November 10, 2026 beginning at 10 a.m. at the University Auditorium.

The trio added that accepted papers will be published in the  SCOPUS Journal of Agricultural Extension and the Journal of Peace, Security and Development while partners for the conference will include the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Solid Minerals, the Ministry of Livestock Development, the Agricultural Extension Society of Nigeria, CJID, FAO, and IFAD.
