UNILORIN to mentor SIPAILS as first 40 students get scholarship – Rector

The immediate past Director of the Centre for Internationalisation and Partnership, University of Ilorin, Prof. Lateef Onireti Ibraheem, has said that the University will provide adequate mentorship for the Sharifat Institute of Professional and Islamic Legal Studies, (SIPAILS), Ilorin.
Prof. Onireti, who is also the Interim Rector of the Institute, disclosed this last Thursday (October 1, 2026) while featuring on ‘‘Table Talk’’, a special interactive programme on UNILORIN 89.3 FM. The programme was anchored by the Head of the Station, Mr Idris Akintola Ibrahim (Alooma), and its Head of News and Current Affairs, Mrs Temitope Folorunsho.
The Rector, who was accompanied to the station by its Interim Registrar, Mallam B. Ibrahim, and Dr Halidu Adewale Afolabi, said that adequate provision has been made for persons with special needs, adding that people of other faiths as well as foreign and international students are also welcomed.
Prof. Onireti said that the Institute has provided state-of-the-art equipment, free internet, 24-hour electricity supply and smartboards for teaching.
According to him, admissions are now open for the 2026/2027 academic session into National Diploma programmes in Banking and Finance, Business Administration and Management, Library and Information Science, Computer Science, Common and Islamic Law and Science Laboratory Technology.
He disclosed that scholarships are available for the first 40 students, noting that the Institute’s JAMB cut-off mark is 100 and that it does not charge application and acceptance fees.
Prof. Onireti outlined a four-step admission process. Step one is for applicants to change their institution to SIPAILS on JAMB. Step two is to ensure that O’Level results are uploaded on CAPS. Step three is screening and verification, while step four is acceptance of the admission offer.
