UNILORIN management hails Owoyele on double honours

The management of the University of Ilorin has congratulated Prof. B. V. Owoyele of the Department of Physiology, College of Health Sciences, on his election as Councillor of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), Washington, D.C., United States of America, and election as Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (FAMedS).
In two separate congratulatory letters, both dated September 30, 2026, and signed by the University Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, the University Management described the feats as well-deserved and prestigious recognitions.
On his election as Councillor of IASP, which was announced on September 3, 2026, following which Prof. Owoyele will be representing Africa and the Middle East on the Council of the Association, the Registrar noted that the election is a testament to his dedication to the Association and his significant contributions to pain research, teaching, administration and mentoring over the past 16 years.
Mr Alfanla noted that the elevation not only brings personal honour to Prof. Owoyele but also enhances the global visibility and reputation of the University of Ilorin. He added that his wealth of knowledge and experience would contribute significantly to the work of the Council and further strengthen international collaboration in the field of Physiology.
On Prof. Owoyele’s election as Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, the Registrar said the honour reflects Prof. Owoyele’s outstanding academic achievements, professional competence and unwavering commitment to excellence in the Medical Sciences.
He added that the recognition is a remarkable accomplishment that reflects the high standards of scholarship for which Prof. Owoyele is renowned in the University.
Mr Alfanla, therefore, congratulated Prof. Owoyele on the feats on behalf of the University Management, and wished him a fruitful, impactful and rewarding tenure in the two important roles.
