2026/2027 academic session begins

As prospective students are receiving the notification of their admissions into the University of Ilorin, the management of the University has announced that all is set for the commencement of the institution’s 2026/2027 academic session.
According to a copy of the academic calendar of the University, sighted last Monday ( September 28, 2026) by UNILORIN Bulletin, the new Session will formally commence this Monday (October 5, 2026) when both new and returning students are expected on campus.
The calendar further provides that registration of both categories of students will run between Monday, October 5 and Friday, October 23, 2026 while lectures for the Harmattan Semester will begin on Monday, October 19, 2026.
The clearance of students at the penultimate level of their various programmes, according to the calendar, will be conducted from Tuesday, December 1 to Tuesday, December 22, 2026.
Between Monday, November 9 and Friday, November 13, 2026, the various Faculty Boards will consider the list of registered returning and fresh students while the Business Committee of Senate will consider the same list of registered students from Tuesday, November 17 to Thursday, November 19, 2026. A special Senate session will subsequently consider the same list on Monday, November 23, 2026.
The calendar further explains that Monday, November 27, 2026 has been set aside for the Matriculation of the new students while the students will go on Semester break from December 24, 2026 to January 4, 2027.
Computer-based and written continuous assessment for the Harmattan Semester will run from Tuesday December 1 to Tuesday December 15, 2026 while lectures for the semester are expected to be brought to an end on Friday, January 22, 2027.
On Monday, February 1, 2027, the Harmattan Semester examinations will commence as it will be rounded off on Friday, February 26, 2027 while the mid-session break will run from Friday, February 26 to Friday, March 14, 2027.
The calendar further states that the rain semester will commence on Monday, March 15, 2027 and continue with series of activities and academic rituals while the session will be formally brought to an end on Monday, September 6, 2027.
Speaking to UNILORIN Bulletin on the development, the Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun, encouraged both the new and returning students of the University to quickly settle down for business.
While he said that the management has made every arrangement to ensure that the students enjoy their stay on campus, Mr Akogun encouraged them to work hard in order to perform excellently as he said that there is no short cut to success anywhere and particularly at the University.
Mr Akogun said that the University remains an institution that has no attraction for any form of distraction and, therefore, urged the students to face their studies squarely.
He also assured them of the preparedness of both the academic and non-teaching staff of the University to assist them in every way possible. He said that the staff members have no other responsibility than to assist the students to become responsible global citizens through proper academic grooming.
Mr Akogun wished both the new and returning students a very peaceful and rewarding academic session.
