SSANU President applauds UNILORIN on CONTTASS implementation

The National President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Mr Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim, has applauded the management of the University of Ilorin for implementing the Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTTASS), describing the development as a demonstration of the commitment of the University to staff welfare.
Mr Ibrahim gave this commendation in a chat with UNILORIN Bulletin penultimate Friday (September 18, 2026) during his visit to the University.
The SSANU President said information he received from the members of the Association in the University indicated that the University management had already implemented CONTTASS, even as many other universities were still awaiting the release of funds by the Federal Government.
He explained that although the Federal Government had approved the payment, the funds were yet to be released to the affected universities, making it difficult for some institutions to commence implementation.
Mr Ibrahim, however, assured all that the release of the funds was at an advanced stage, saying that universities should expect to receive the money in the next few weeks.
He said that SSANU had continued to engage relevant government offices to facilitate the release of the funds, adding that he had received assurances from both the Minister of Education and the Minister of Finance on the imminent release.
The SSANU President commended the management of the University of Ilorin, particularly the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN; the Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla; and the Bursar, Mr Abiodun Lawal, for ensuring that the University moves ahead with the implementation of CONTTASS.
Mr Ibrahim also reaffirmed the commitment of SSANU to maintaining a strong and visible presence across Nigerian universities, noting that the Association will continue to play an active role in promoting the interests of its members nationwide.
He encouraged SSANU executive committees across the country to sustain their participation at intellectual fora, saying that such engagements would enable members to remain abreast of new skills, knowledge and emerging trends in the workplace.
