UNILORIN Ambassador, Olusunle, bags NGE’s Fellowship

A distinguished alumnus of the University of Ilorin and one of the 50th Anniversary Ambassadors of the University, Dr Tunde Olusunle, has been penciled for admission into the prestigious Fellowship of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).
According to a letter dated September 8, 2026 and signed by the Secretary General of the Guild, Mr Onuoha Ukeh, the approval for the Fellowship was given by the Standing Committee of the Guild.
The letter stated that Dr Olusunle’s formal induction into the Fellowship would hold on Saturday (September 26, 2026), in Enugu, at the Gala Night/Farewell Dinner marking the conclusion of the 22nd All Nigeria Editors’ Conference.
Dr Olusunle, a prolific media personality, media administrator and literary figure, obtained his Bachelor and Master degrees in English and Literature-in-English from the University of Ilorin in 1985 and 1989, respectively.
He was among the 17 distinguished alumni honoured by the University during its Golden Jubilee celebration in 2025, as UNILORIN Ambassadors.
A Fellow of the Association of Nigerian Authors (FANA), Dr Olusunle’s meritorious career spans journalism, public service and and creative writing. He served on the Editorial Boards of Daily Times and Leadership newspapers. He also served as a Special Assistant to President Olusegun Obasanjo from 1999 to 2007, and is the author of three well-received volumes of poetry.
With the new honour, Dr Olusunle joins the exclusive body of Fellows of the Guild, which includes media icons such as Pa Sam Amuka-Pemu, Chief Olusegun Osoba, Chief Ray Ekpu, Alhaji Najeem Jimoh, and Mr Nduka Obaigbena, among others.
Following the nomination, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole SAN, has congratulated Dr Olusunle on this distinguished professional recognition.
In a statement issued by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, Prof. Egbewole described Dr Olusunle as a worthy Ambassador of the University who embodies the best of the University and continues to inspire generations of Unilortes through his sterling strides.
