Igbomina Youth Assembly honours Alabi

A prominent community-based organisation, the Igbomina Youth Assembly (IYA), has honoured the Protocol Officer to the Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Mr Oluwasegun Timothy Alabi, for being a true pillar and a blessing to Igbomina Land.
The youth body presented a souvenir to Mr Alabi last Wednesday (September 2, 2026), in his office, in recognition and appreciation of his contributions, commitment, and continued support for the activities of the Igbomina Youth Assembly and the development of Igbomina land.
While presenting the souvenir, the President of the body, Mr Oyinloye Kehinde Oluwasogo, who was represented by the Vice President, Mr Adekeye Emmanuel Segun, said the Assembly appreciated Mr Alabi’s commitment, dedication and exceptional support to Igbomina youths, adding that his contributions were valued and would not be taken for granted.
Responding, Mr Alabi appreciated the body for the recognition, describing it as particularly significant because it came from his home community. He said, “There is no recognition that is as huge as being honoured at home. When one is recognised from the home front, I appreciate that more than whatever recognition any other person will want to give me”. He described the honour as a call to greater service, stressing that recognition comes with increased responsibility. While noting that contributions to the community should be regarded as investments and the benefits of such efforts might extend beyond the individual to future generations, Mr Alabi, therefore, urged Igbomina indigenes to contribute their quota to the development of the community in whatever capacity they could, adding that community development is a collective responsibility.
“The community will not develop itself. We are the ones to do it. So, in whatever way that God has empowered us to do, we just do it,” he submitted.
