Ex-MD, Daily Times hails Akogun’s professionalism

The Publisher of Naturenews, Africa’s foremost newspaper that is focused on environment and climate change, Mr Aliu Moyo Akoshile, has commended the exemplary professionalism of the Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun.
Mr Akoshile, who is also a former Group Managing Director/ Editor-in-Chief of Daily Times Nigeria, and former MD/Editor-in-Chief of Daily Trust, made the commendation in an opinion article he wrote as part of the compendium to mark the centenary of Daily Times, Nigeria’s oldest surviving newspaper.
The media executive noted that he would remain grateful to many scholars and senior journalists, including Mr Akogun, who, he said, shaped and mentored him.
He explained that Mr Akogun was among the senior colleagues whose interactions with him in the newsrooms tested him and made him who he has become professionally.
Mr Akogun, who attended the University of Lagos from where he earned his first and second degrees in Mass Communication, just like Mr Akoshile, joined the services of the University of Ilorin as Deputy Director in 2012.
His professionalism and hardwork culminated in his appointment as the first substantive Director of the Directorate of Corporate Affairs of the University in 2018.
Before joining the services of the University, Mr Akogun had worked in a number of media outfits including The Herald, The Punch, The Sunray as well as ThisDay bewspapers where he held senior editorial positions.
Mr Akogun’s professionalism and industry as the University’s image-maker contributed in no small measure to the positive ratings enjoyed by the University from several local, national and international organisations as the University was for many years adjudged as the most sought-after University and one of the most peaceful and most academically stable institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.
