Egbewole tasks new Senate Reps, Directors on selfless service

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has charged. Senate representatives on various Committees and Boards and newly appointed Directors to regard their appointments as a call to selfless service and an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the University.
Prof. Egbewole gave the charge last Thursday (August 6, 2026) in his remarks at a special meeting of the University Senate.
The Vice Chancellor said that every appointment in the University comes with responsibility and sacrifice rather than personal benefits.
He urged those nominated into various committees to see their appointments as a duty to the University rather than an avenue for financial gain, stressing that such responsibilities demand sacrifice and dedication while providing an opportunity to build experience and enrich their curriculum vitae through service.
Prof. Egbewole explained that the appointments followed the completion of the two-year tenure of the immediate past Senate representatives on various committees and Directors.
The Vice Chancellor congratulated the newly appointed Senate representatives and Directors and urged them to prepare for the orientation and training programme scheduled for Monday, stressing that the exercise would acquaint them with the expectations and responsibilities of their respective offices.
He also appreciated the immediate past members who represented the University Senate on various committees, as well as the outgoing Directors, commending them on their dedication, commitment and invaluable contributions to the progress of the University.
Speaking on behalf of the University Senate, Prof. Abdulrasheed Abiodun Adeoye appreciated the outgoing Senate representatives on various committees and the immediate past Directors for their meritorious services to the University.
He thanked them for their unwavering commitment, noting that their sacrifices had contributed significantly to the continued growth and development of the institution.
Prof. Adeoye described service to humanity as service to God and wished the newly appointed Senate representatives and Directors a successful and impactful tenure in office.
