COMSIT fetes retirees, honours outstanding staff members

The Directorate of Computer Services and Information Technology (COMSIT), University of Ilorin, has celebrated its retirees as it also honoured its Director and outstanding staff members at a colourful ceremony.
The event, which was held last Monday (July 27, 2026) at the University Auditorium Basement, was well attended by staff members of the University and well wishers.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee and Deputy Director/Head, Mail Services and Help-desk Unit, Mrs Medinah Tanwa Salman, described the event as a two-in-one programme designed to appreciate retired officers, celebrate excellence and motivate staff members to remain committed to the vision of the Directorate.
Mrs Salman commended the Director for initiating the programme, noting that the recognition would inspire greater dedication and strengthen teamwork within the Directorate.
The Director of COMSIT, Prof. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh expressed gratitude to the management of the University for providing him with the opportunity and platform to transform his vision for the Directorate into reality.
Prof. Jimoh said every achievement recorded by the Directorate was made possible through the collective support of members of staff.
The Director, who is also a former Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences added that the awards were instituted not only to celebrate excellence but also to motivate hardworking staff members, saying that every recipient had contributed meaningfully to the growth and success of COMSIT.
Paying glowing tributes to the retirees, the Director described Mr Sunday Ayinla Fadesere as a distinguished staff member who served the University diligently and selflessly.
He noted that Mr Fadesire’s commitment and loyalty would remain a source of inspiration to younger members of staff.
He also commended Alfa Mohammed who was represented by his wife, Mrs Halikat Adeniji Mohammed, for his years of devoted service to the University and the Directorate.
According to him, both retirees left behind remarkable legacies of dedication, professionalism and integrity worthy of emulation.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of motivational awards to deserving serving and former members of staff in recognition of their outstanding contributions.
Among those honoured were Dr Rasheed Adekola Tomori, and Dr Adenyola Dunmade, who served COMSIT for over two decades.
Other honourees included Mr Mubarak Opeyemi Abdulraheem, recognised as the Directorate’s Best IT Support Staff; Mr Adeleke Temitope Adeoye, Mr Zakariah Bolakale, Adedeji Lawal, while the Director of COMSIT was also honoured for his outstanding leadership and contributions to the growth of the Directorate.
Also present were the Ag. Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Alex Morenikeji Akanmu; the Director of the Centre for Laboratory to Product (LABTOP), Prof. Mohammed Jimoh Saka; the Ag. Manager of the UNILORIN Innovation Hub, Dr Muhtahir Oluwaseyi Oloyede, and other staff members of the Directorate and well wishers.
