Students of the University of Ilorin have commended the management of the University on its sustained efforts in ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the ongoing Rain Semester examinations.
The commendation was made last Tuesday (July 21, 2026) by a cross-section of students that spoke with UNILORIN Bulletin.
The students described the examinations as orderly, transparent, and free of examination malpractices.
They attributed the success to the effective measures put in place by the University management to uphold the integrity of the examination process.

One of the students, Muritala Muhammad Olamide, identified his final-year project as one of the most demanding aspects of his academic journey. He, however, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for helping him overcome the challenge with the support of his project supervisor and other well-wishers.
Also speaking, Miss Abanikanda Aminat Arike of the Department of Arts Education commended the University management for providing a befitting structure at the new School Park.
She, however, appealed to the management to introduce a uniform transport fare for both the University buses and commercial operators to eliminate disagreements between drivers and students.
She also appreciated her parents for their immense financial and moral support throughout her academic programme despite the huge financial demands of her course of study.
Another graduating student of the Department of Library and Information Science, Mr Abdulfatai Abdulqadri, also commended the University management for the effective arrangement and coordination of the ongoing examinations, noting that the measures put in place had helped to ensure a malpractice-free examination process.
He urged all invigilators to continue conducting thorough searches of students with fairness, integrity, and without compromise, stressing the importance of maintaining the high standards of the University’s examination process.
Mr Abdulqadri expressed optimism that he and his colleagues would graduate with excellent results following the successful completion of their examinations. He also appreciated the lecturers in the Department for their dedication to grooming students into competent and responsible graduates.
Some other students, who spoke on condition of anonymity, appealed to personnel at the University Health Services to remain patient and courteous while attending to students.
They noted that some medical conditions require careful assessment before medication is prescribed, stressing that such an approach would enhance healthcare delivery and ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment.
On hostel accommodation, the students urged porters in the various halls of residence to promptly forward genuine complaints from students to the appropriate University authorities for timely intervention.
They also appealed to lecturers to adhere strictly to approved lecture timetables and avoid last-minute changes in scheduled classes.
According to them, frequent alterations disrupt students’ study plans, reduce concentration, and sometimes cause them to miss lectures or impromptu tests.
They added that whenever lectures would not hold, students should be informed in advance, especially in view of the prevailing economic challenges that have made transportation increasingly expensive.
Similarly, a 100-Level student of the Department of Library and Information Science, Bello Nasirat Oluwashola, praised the lecturers for their commitment to academic excellence and moral development, describing them as dedicated mentors who are producing worthy ambassadors of the University.
She also appealed to the University management to improve sporting activities on campus, lamenting the inadequate participation of female students in recent University league competitions, particularly in football, volleyball, basketball, and table tennis.
According to her, increased participation in sports would provide students with opportunities to showcase their talents, improve their physical fitness, and represent the University in inter-university competitions.
