Adult Education Dept. holds 2026 Cultural Day

The Department of Adult and Primary Education, University of Ilorin, last Thursday (July 23, 2026) held this year’s edition of its annual Cultural Day.
The event, according to the organisers, was held as part of the practical component of Primary Education Studies(PES) 406, entitled “Nigeria as a Corporate Entity”, which is a final year course for students of the Department.
Speaking at the event, an Associate Professor at the Department, Dr Eniola Ola-Alani, said that the course is designed to expose students to Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage while providing them with the opportunity to demonstrate their talents through practical presentations.
Dr Ola-Alani, who is a Fellow of the Early Childhood Association of Nigeria (ECAN) and former Head of the Department, said that the practical session has become an integral part of the course as it enables learners to translate classroom knowledge into meaningful cultural experiences
A major highlight of the event was the showcase of the cultural traditions of the nation’s three major ethnic groups, which is targeted at promoting national unity, cultural appreciation, and mutual understanding among the students.
The event was attended by several dignitaries including the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. O. L. Olaitan; the Head of the Department, Prof. O. O. Okoji, as well as lecturers such as Dr A. O. Olawuni, Dr R. Abdulwahab, Dr S. T. Kayode and Dr A. O. Sholagberu, among others.
