UNILORIN produces three new silks

In another remarkable exemplification of its better by far status, the University of Ilorin has again produced three new Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN). They are Mr Adebisi Emmanuel Adeniyi, Mr Adebayo Folorunsho Ologe and Mr Akorede Habeeb Lawal.
While Mr Adeniyi and Mr Ologe graduated in 2002 and 2003, respectively, Mr Lawal finished from the University in 2009.
The elevation of the trio was announced along with those of 66 others by the Secretary of the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC), Mr Abdulkabir Akanbi, in a statement issued in Abuja last Thursday (July 23, 2026).
Mr Akanbi, who is also the Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, explained that the three gentlemen were among the several legal practitioners and academics who applied and were shortlisted for elevation to the prestigious rank that is reserved for legal luminaries who are truly outstanding in Nigeria.
Reacting to the development, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, described the elevation of the three ex-Unilorites as a welcome development.
Prof. Egbewole, in a statement issued by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, said that the management, staff and students of the University were delighted that the three gentlemen were found to be worthy of the prestigious rank.
He explained that the three gentlemen are a worthy addition to the growing list of Senior Advocates of Nigeria produced by the University, particularly in the course of his tenure as the Chief Executive of the University.
Also reacting, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Bashir Omipidan, said that the elevation of the trio is a plus to the Faculty and the University at large.
Prof. Omipidan, who is also the National President of the UNILORIN Law Alumni Association, added tha he felt honoured and proud that the Faculty has added three new silks to its fascinating records within the first year of his tenure.
The Dean congratulated the honourees as he also rejoiced with the staff of the Faculty, including the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Egbewole, on the new feat.
While assuring the Vice Chancellor and other stakeholders of the determination of the Faculty to always make the University and the nation proud through production of outstanding legal luminaries, Prof. Omipidan, who is also the first alumnus of the Faculty to become a Professor and Dean of the same Faculty encouraged other alumni and current students of the Faculty to continue to work harder for them to deserve elevation in their careers as well.
