By Mubarak Oladosu
A distinguished alumnus of the University of Ilorin, Mr Oladeinde Olawoyin, has again brought honor to his alma mater on the global stage.
Mr Olawoyin, who is currently the Business, Energy, and Economy Editor at Premium Times, was selected as part of an elite cohort of leading global energy journalists for the prestigious 2026 International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) programme held in June .
The intensive media initiative took place at the Vienna International Centre in Austria and includes tours of nuclear facilities in Slovakia and other parts of Europe.
The fully-sponsored programme assembled journalists from around the world to engage with global experts on the future of nuclear power, clean energy transitions, and international safety protocols.
During high-level media interactions in Vienna, Mr Olawoyin held his own on the international stage through an exclusive engagement with the Director-General of the IAEA, Rafael Mariano Grossi, during which he pressed for critical updates regarding the technical progress and viability of Nigeria’s national nuclear power project and democratisation of access to nuclear energy.
The Director-General’s engagement with Mr Olawoyin’s inquiries, underscored the quality journalism training for which UNILORIN’s communication graduates are renowned.
