Akogun assures CISSA of continued support

The Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun, has assured the Communication and Information Sciences Students’ Association (CISSA) of his continued support for the Association’s academic programmes and activities, with a view to enhancing the relevance and overall development of its members on campus.
Mr Akogun gave the assurance last (Monday, July 13, 2026) when the newly elected Public Relations Officers of the Association, Mr Fiki Kehinde Elisha and Miss Firdauz Ololade Mustapha, visited him in his office.
The Director commended the student leaders for accepting the responsibility of serving their Faculty and expressed his readiness to continue to support them.
The Director advised the student Leaders to organise meaningful programmes that would benefit their colleagues and further promote the good image of the University.
Mr Akogun noted that active participation in students’ union activities provides opportunities for personal development and leadership training.
He, however, reminded the students that their primary responsibility is to acquire quality education and excel in their chosen fields within the stipulated period. He urged them to remain focused on their studies and not allow union activities to jeopardise their academic pursuits.
Also speaking, the General Manager of UNILORIN 89.3 FM, Mr Idris Alooma, encouraged the student leaders to always represent the University with dignity and uphold its core values, reminding them of the institution’s motto, ‘Probitas Doctrina.’
He also cautioned the students against joining unregistered associations on campus to avoid violating the University’s code of conduct.
The General Manager stressed that hard work and prayers remain the keys to academic success and excellence in life.
Mr Alooma also informed the students about the station’s apprenticeship training programme for University students, assuring them that interested participants would receive quality training and be awarded certificates upon successful completion of the programme.
Responding, the Public Relations Officer, Mr Fiki Kehinde Elisha, said the purpose of the visit was to sustain and further strengthen the existing relationship between the Communication and Information Sciences Students’ Association (CISSA) and the University’s media authorities.
He also outlined the Association’s vision of promoting effective communication and expanding the visibility of activities within the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences.
At the end of the visit, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a productive relationship that would enhance information dissemination, strengthen collaboration, and project the achievements and activities of CISSA to the wider University community.
The Public Relations Officer was accompanied by the Association’s Public Relations Officer II, Firdauz Ololade Mustapha.
