UNILORIN TV committed to cultural preservation – Ikibe

The Chairman of the UNILORIN Television Management Board, Prof. Solomon O. Ikibe, has assured stakeholders that the station would ensure the propagation and preservation of the cultural heritage of the people of Kwara State.
Prof. Ikibe gave this assurance last Tuesday (July 14, 2026) while speaking at a meeting of the Board held at the Conference Room of the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin.
He said that the station would be remarkably different from other campus television stations in the realm of professionalism, coverage and service delivery.
The Chairman, who is also a former Head of the Department of the Performing and Film Arts, University of Ilorin, said that in addition to enhancing teaching and learning, the station would also provide quality coverage to cultural celebrations.
He explained that no segment of Kwara State would be left uncovered by the station as he explained that major cultural events like the Ilorin Emirate Durbar, the Shao Mass Weddings and the Pategi Ragetta fishing festival would be given adequate coverage for the benefit of viewers.
Prof. Ikibe added that no effort would be spared at ensuring that the viewership of the station increased significantly.
While saying that the Board is working strenuously to ensure that the station becomes the darling of all, Prof. Ikibe encouraged staff members and students of the University to own the station by always tuning to it.
The Board Chairman expressed the hope that the Board would continue to enjoy the support of the University Administration in its resolve to reposition the University to be the pride of all.
