Fadipe-Joseph elected AMU’s VP

A Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Olubunmi A. Fadipe-Joseph, has been elected Vice President of the African Mathematical Union (AMU).

Prof. Fadipe-Joseph, was elected at the 11th General Assembly of the Pan African Congress of Mathematicians (PACOM 2026) held in Côte d’Ivoire on June 28, 2026.

In his notification letter to the Registrar on behalf of Prof. Fadipe-Joseph, the Head of the Department of Mathematics, Prof.  A. S. Idowu, said that the election was a remarkable achievement not only for Prof. Fadipe-Joseph but also for the Department and the University as it underscores the institution’s growing reputation for academic excellence and international recognition.

Before her election, Prof. Fadipe-Joseph served in several leadership positions, including Chair of the African Mathematical Union Commission for Women in Mathematics, Vice President of the Nigerian Mathematical Society and Nigeria’s Ambassador to the International Mathematical Union Committee for Women in Mathematics.
