SSANU honours 170 retirees

Penultimate Wednesday(July 1, 2026) was a great day in the annals of the University of Ilorin Branch of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) as the Union honoured 170 of its retired members.
The event, which was held at the University Auditorium, was held in recognition of the honorees’ dedication, commitment and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the institution.
The programme, which brought together the retirees, their families, University staff, union members and well-wishers, was also organised to remember and celebrate the contributions of the deceased members of the Union.
The honourees, who were visibly delighted with the event, were drawn from different Departments, professional cadres and service units across the University.
Among senior administrative officers recognised were retired Deputy Registrars such as Mrs Adi Azumi, Mr Sayuti Abdulateef, Mr Olajugba Samuel, Mrs Oladosu Muhibat and Mr Adegoke Musilihudeen.
From the Bursary Department, those honoured included Munirudeen Dere and Ogunbiyi Isaac, who retired as Deputy Bursars, among others.
Also on the list of honorees were two ex-staff members of the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, Mr Adebisi George Adenle, who retired as a Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs, and Mr Sunday Fadesire, who was a senior Information Technology Officer attached to the UNILORIN Bulletin.
In attendance at the event were the Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla; the Bursar, Mr Abiodun Lawal; the Director of Works, Mr Ramoni Amao; and the Director of the Physical Planning Unit, Mr Abdulrahman Toyin Jimoh, among others.
