This was disclosed last Thursday (July 9, 2026) by the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the event, Prof. Waheed Babatunde Yahya, at a meeting of the Committee held in his office.

Prof. Yahya, who teaches at the Department of Statistics, explained that the Committee has been tasked with the responsibility of identifying and recommending worthy alumni to the University Management in conjunction with the Provost of the College of Health Sciences and Deans of the various Faculties.

He also said that the Committee was mandated to plan for and organise the investiture ceremony in a befitting manner.

Aderionye-Abdulwahab of the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development; the Ag. Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Alex Morenikeji Akanmu; the Ag. Head of the Department of Physics, Dr Tajudeen Olanrewaju Lawal; a Lecturer at the Department of Public Administration, Dr Iyiola T. A Deputy Director at the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, Mr Abubakar Imam; and a Principal Assistant Registrar at the University Advancement Centre, Mr A. O. Abdurraheem; are co-opted members of the Committee.

Meanwhile, the Committee has been divided into different sub-committees to ease the assignment as well as to ensure efficient service delivery.

While he said that the Committee has received some nominations, the Chairman appealed to Deans to forward the names of worthy alumni of their respective Faculties to the Committee for consideration and subsequent approval of the University management.

He explained that the prospective awardees must not only be outstanding in their respective fields but must have also impacted positively on the University or its Units and the society at large. He added that the University has produced several men and women of timbre and calibre who are doing very well within and outside the country, saying that the award is meant for such individuals to encourage them to do more and stimulate others to emulate their patriotic dispositions.

Prof. Yahya encouraged members of the Committee to show necessary commitment that would justify the discharge of their responsibilities and justify their appointments.

He added that the University Administration expected a perfect organisation of the event as the event is anticipated to promote the image of the University among stakeholders and members of the public at large.
