The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Ilorin, Prof. Joshua Olanrewaju Olaoye, has been inducted as a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAE) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to engineering scholarship, research, innovation, and professional practice in Nigeria.

Prof. Olaoye was inducted alongside eleven other distinguished Nigerians during a colourful ceremony held penultimate Thursday (June 25, 2026) at the J. F.  Ade Ajayi Auditorium, University of Lagos.

The induction ceremony also featured the investiture of the 14th President of the Academy, Engr Prof. U.G. Danbatta, presentation of Life Achievement Awards, and the 2026 Annual Lecture delivered by Emeritus Prof. Fola Lasisi on the theme: “Impactful Engineering Through Innovation and Mentorship.”

The honour represents a major recognition of  remarkable contributions of Prof. Olaoye to engineering and further underscores the growing reputation of the University of Ilorin as a centre of academic excellence, innovation, and research-driven development.

In his goodwill message, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, described the recognition conferred on Prof. Olaoye as a clear testament to his remarkable contributions to engineering scholarship, research, and professional practice.

He noted that Prof. Olaoye’s dedication to advancing knowledge, mentoring future engineers, and contributing meaningfully to national development earned him the prestigious honour.

The Vice Chancellor further stated that the University takes great pride in the achievements of Prof. Olaoye, noting that his elevation to the Fellowship of the Academy continues to bring prestige to the institution while inspiring excellence within the academic and engineering communities.

Reacting to the honour, Prof. Olaoye expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God as he appreciated the support of his family, colleagues, friends, and associates whose encouragement and contributions, he said, have remained instrumental throughout his professional journey.

The Dean, who was accompanied to the event by his wife, Mrs Olaoye, described the recognition as a call to greater service, dedication, and commitment towards advancing engineering innovation, research, mentorship, and national development.
