The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has congratulated Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki on his appointment as the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin by the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.

In a statement issued by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor, who is also the Secretary-General of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU), said that the appointment of the new Chief Imam is well-deserved considering his outstanding pedigree, profound knowledge and other remarkable leadership qualities.

Prof. Egbewole, who is also the Convener and Chairman of the Consortium of Kwara State-Based Universities (KU8+), said that the choice of the new Chief Imam was evidently a very popular one, considering the magnitude of its acceptance by all and sundry, particularly among the indigenes and residents of the Ilorin Emirate.

While recalling the fraternity enjoyed by the University from the late Chief Imam, the Vice Chancellor enjoined Shaykh Dasuki to emulate the sterling qualities that made his predecessor a respected figure throughout his Imamship.

Prof. Egbewole wished the new Chief Imam a very long, peaceful and rewarding reign.
