Ikibe heads UNILORIN TV Mgt Board

A former Head of the Department of the Performing and Film Arts, University of Ilorin, Prof. Solomon Oziakpono Ikibe, has been appointed as the Chairman of the UNILORIN Television Management Board.

The appointment of Prof. Ikibe is contained in a memo dated June 15, 2026 and signed by the Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, a copy of which was made available to UNILORIN Bulletin.

Other members of the Board are the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun; a lecturer at the Department of Educational Technology, Dr M. A. Aderoju; a lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, Mrs Hameedat O. Oladimeji; and Mr M. T. Adua of the Directorate of Human Resources. A Deputy Director at the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, Mr Abubakar Sidiq Imam, would serve as the Board’s Secretary.

The Board, according to the Registrar, is expected to provide policy direction and strategic oversight for the management and operations of UNILORIN TV, oversee programme planning, productions, and broadcasting activities, ensure compliance with broadcasting regulations, professional standards, and University policies and promote the station’s role in teaching, research, public engagement, and enhancement of the visibility of the University.

The Board is also saddled with the responsibility of facilitating collaboration among academic, administrative, and external stakeholders, advise on equipment, technology, infrastructure, and resource needs of the station, approve work plans, programme schedules, and operational activities, support funding, partnerships, sponsorship, and revenue-generation initiatives, monitor performance and recommend measures for continuous improvements of the station’s operations, receive and review periodic reports from the Station Manager and make appropriate recommendations to the University Management; and provide any other relevant recommendations that can assist the University Management.

The Committee, according to the memo,  is also expected to submit a comprehensive report to the Vice Chancellor on or before July 15, 2026.
