NESA donates gasoline generator to Economics Dept

The Nigerian Economics Students Association (NESA), University of Ilorin Chapter, has donated a gasoline generator to the Department of Economics as a form of support towards ensuring smooth service delivery.

The donation ceremony was held penultimate Friday, (May 29, 2026).at the office of the Head of the Department of Economics.

Speaking during the event, the Head of the Department, Prof. Abdullahi Kilishi, expressed appreciation to the Association for the gesture,describing it as the first major donation of its kind from students to the Department.

He commended the students for their commitment to the growth and development of their alma mater, stressing that one does not need to graduate before contributing positively to the institution.

Prof. Kilishi assured the  donors that the generator would be properly utilised whenever the need arises.

“We believe in you as students and also after graduation that you will continue to give back in bigger ways,” he said.

Also speaking, a lecturer in the Department, Dr Ayodele Folorunsho Oshodi, described the students’ gesture as commendable. He noted that the Department was fortunate to have students who are willing to make meaningful contributions even before their graduation.

He added that the generator came at the right time and described the donation as a notable achievement for the Department while urging other students to emulate such acts.

Speaking earlier, the President of NESA, Mr Uchena Wisdom, said the Association decided to purchase the generator to ensure the Department has its own power supply during events instead of relying on borrowed equipment.

He reaffirmed the  commitment of the Association to supporting the Department and contributing to its continued progress and development..
