PPU pledges quality execution of ongoing projects

The Director of the Physical Planning Unit (PPU), University of Ilorin, Mr AbdulRahman Toyin Jimoh, has assured stakeholders that his Unit would ensure that all the ongoing projects are done and delivered to specifications.
Mr Jimoh gave this assurance last Monday (May 18, 2026) while speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin in his office.
The projects, according to the Director, are the construction and furnishing of Lecture Theatre at the College of Health Sciences, the construction and furnishing of a storey block of two numbers 250 capacity lecture halls for the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the construction and furnishing of a storey block of two numbers 300 capacity lecture halls for College of Health Sciences.
Others include the construction and furnishing of Dentistry Department at the College of Health Sciences, the construction and furnishing of Animal House at the College of Health Sciences as well as the construction and furnishing of 100 capacity skill demonstration laboratory for the Department of Nursing Sciences.
The rest are the construction and furnishing of storey block of four number 100 capacity lecture lecture halls collapsible for the Faculties of Arts and Law, the construction and furnishing of a storey block of four number 100 capacity lecture halls collapsible for the Faculties of Communication and Information Sciences and Social sciences, the construction and furnishing of a storey block of four number 100 capacity lecture halls collapsible for the Faculties of Environmental Sciences and Management Sciences, the construction and furnishing of four number 100 capacity lecture halls collapsible for the Faculties of Engineering, Life and Physical Sciences as well as the construction and furnishing of a storey block of four number 100 capacity collapsible for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
Mr Jimoh said that his Unit has been working round the clock to ensure that contractors use the right quality and expected quantity of materials at every stage of each of the projects.
He added that the PPU would not relent in its responsibilities targeted at ensuring that the projects not only serve their purposes but also stand the test of time.
Mr Jimoh, who is a past Chairman of the Kwara State Branch of the Nigerian Institution of Quantity Surveyors(NIQS), thanked the authorities of the University for always executing meaningful projects.
The Director said that he was further delighted that contactors were not denied of funds as he said that that would enable those projects to be delivered on time.
He also expressed satisfaction in the fact that the projects are spread across various Faculties of the University, adding that most of the Faculties have benefited from one project or the other since the assumption of office of the Vice Chancellor, Prof.Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN.
Mr Jimoh, who is also a Fellow of the NIQS, also thanked the Vice Chancellor for ensuring that the menace of abandoned projects does not happen during his tenure as he noted that every project initiated by the current Administration is concluded and put to effective use for the benefit of staff and students of the University and other stakeholders.
