UNILORIN assures PCN team of sustained excellence

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has reaffirmed the commitment of the University Administration to maintaining global standards in teaching, research, and professional training.
Prof. Egbewole, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Olalere Adeyemi, gave the assurance last Thursday (May 21, 2026) while receiving the accreditation team from the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) led by Prof. Umar U. Pateh, during a visit to the University.
The Vice Chancellor noted that accreditation remains a critical quality assurance mechanism capable of strengthening institutions, improving students’ learning experiences, and increasing employers’ confidence in graduates produced by Nigerian universities.
The legal luminary explained that the University has consistently distinguished itself through academic excellence, stable academic calendar, impactful research output, and the production of highly skilled graduates capable of competing favourably across the globe.
He added that the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has continued to uphold the better by far tradition through quality teaching, innovative research, professional ethics, and state-of-the-art training facilities designed to meet contemporary healthcare demands.
Prof. Egbewole expressed confidence that the accreditation exercise would further showcase the remarkable progress recorded by the institution in Pharmacy education, stressing that the University has invested significantly in infrastructure, manpower development, laboratory equipment, and academic support systems to sustain the programme’s excellence. He assured the visiting team of the University management’s readiness to provide all necessary support required for a smooth and successful exercise.
In his response, the leader of the accreditation team, Prof. Pateh described accreditation as an essential process for ensuring quality assurance and maintaining professional standards within the University system.
Prof. Pateh commended the University for its commitment to academic development and expressed optimism that the exercise would yield positive outcomes beneficial to the institution, students, and the nation’s healthcare sector.
The Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry fromĀ Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, also lauded the management of the University for its warm reception and dedication to continuous improvement, noting that the Pharmacy programme plays a vital role in producing competent professionals needed to strengthen healthcare delivery in Nigeria and beyond.
He added that the accreditation exercise would provide an opportunity to further consolidate the University’s reputation as one of the nation’s leading institutions of higher learning.

Adeoye, among others.
