Security Div. honours Afolabi, late Shaadat Mustapha

The Security Division of the University of Ilorin has honoured one of its senior staff members, Mr Timothy Afolabi, and late Mrs Shaadat Mustapha for their selfless services to the Division and the entire University.
The ceremony, which was the second edition of the send-off ceremony organised by the UNILORIN Security Staff Welfare (USSW), last Thursday (May 7,2026) brought together security personnel, union leaders, retirees and other well-wishers who converged to celebrate the contributions of the honourees.
Speaking at the event, the Ag. Director of Security, Mr Paul Ogidi, commended the leadership of the USSW for sustaining the send-off ceremony and promoting unity and welfare among staff members of the Division.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the USSW, Mr Shuaib Yahaya Olarewaju, said that theĀ body was established in 2022 to promote the welfare of staff members of theĀ Division.
He described security as the backbone of every institution, noting that security personnel in the University had continued to discharge their responsibilities.
He recalled that the maiden edition of the sent-off ceremony was held in April 2024 in honour of Mr Ali Na’Allah, adding that USSW had recorded significant growth in membership and operations since inception.
According to him, membership of the Association has increased from 23 in 2024 to 75 members in 2026, attributing the development to the commitment and cooperation of members.
He also appreciated the contributions of the Ag. Director of Security and senior officers, including Mr S. H. Ibrahim, Mr Sunday Adeyele, Mr Emmanuel Oke and Mr Musa Saliu, towards the progress of the Association.
Responding, Mr Afolabi, expressed appreciation to the University management and staff members of the Division for the support and cooperation he enjoyed while in service.
Also speaking, the family of the late Mrs Mustapha, represented by her son, Habeeb Balogun, thanked the leadership and members of USSW for recognising and honouring her contributions even after her demise.
